Panopto: Add Navigation Button to a Canvas Course

Overview

Follow the instructions below to find out how to add the Panopto Video button to the toolbar in your Canvas course.

Instructions

Adding the Panopto Video Toolbar Button in Canvas

Panopto is automatically integrated with Canvas, but you may need to add a navigational button for it in your course.

NOTE: be careful with this setting. Presentations and folders with permissions set so that students have access to them will be visible under this tab. One use case for using the Panopto Video tab is if you'd like to store all videos you want your students to access in one place.

Please follow ALL of the instructions listed on this page.

  1. Within your course in Canvas, select the Settings button from the navigation menu on the left.

  2. Select the Navigation tab at the top of the menu page.

  3. From here, you can drag and drop navigation items to be included on the course page.
  4. Scroll down and make sure to click Save

Important: After clicking Save, click the Panopto Video button to initialize it for the first time.
