WiFi: Connect to the eduroam Wireless Network | iOS (iPhone/iPad)

Overview

The instructions below will guide you through connecting to the Eduroam network at UTK on an iOS (iPhone/iPad) device.

Check for participating institutions by visiting the official eduroam site.

Before You Begin

You must first connect to eduroam from your home campus before traveling.

Complete network registration using ut-open (Recommended) - It is recommended to complete the network registration process for your device using the ut-open network before setting up eduroam. See the article WiFi: Connect to the UT Wireless Network for more information. In most cases, a prompt to register your device should appear automatically after you connect to ut-open the first time. Note that the registration does not take effect until the device has been restarted or you toggle your WiFi off and on.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the ‘Settings’ menu on your iOS device.
  2. Click the ‘Wi-Fi’ option towards the top of the settings list.

  3. Ensure Private Addressing is disabled for the EDUROAM network.
    1. Tap the "i" to the right of the network name.
    2. Toggle the Private Addressing setting to the disabled position.
  4. Tap on the ‘eduroam’ network

  5. Log in with your UT credentials:

      2. Students: netid@vols.utk.edu
    • Password: NetID Password
  6. Tap ‘Join’ in the upper right of the screen.

  7. A certificate message may appear from radius.ns.utk.edu, tap ‘Trust’ in the upper right corner of the screen.

  8. A checkmark will appear to the left of eduroam on the Wi-Fi menu once the connection is successful.

  9. Once connected, follow the OIT Knowledge Base instructions to ensure private addressing for eduroam and ut-open are disabled if you did not do so during setup.

New Device Registration: If registering the device for the very first time, please restart the device or toggle your WiFi off and on after network registration.

Existing Device Registration: If this device has already been registered when connected to ut-open, there are no additional steps and the setup is complete. (iOS devices will still need to disable Private Addressing as linked above).
