Overview
Accommodation requests for assessments are managed in Canvas and/or in the YuJa Verity Proctoring system. Canvas supports accommodations by allowing instructors to extend quiz times for individual students, change due dates and availability dates of quizzes and assignments, and allow extra attempts for quizzes. Instructors can also configure accommodations for a YuJa Verity proctored quiz within their Canvas course.
However, there are some key differences to keep in mind. Canvas manages access time and attempts, while YuJa Verity handles the monitoring and security layer to support academic integrity.
In Canvas:
Broader accommodation needs are catered to through its built-in features. For example, moderating the quiz. These options are available in both New and Classic quizzes, making it easier to apply individual accommodations.
In YuJa Verity Proctored Quiz:
An additional layer of accommodations specific to proctoring is in Verity. YuJa Verity does not give extra time or attempts. Depending on the setup, instructors can customize to allow specific features that best accommodate the student. For example, “Do not Proctor,” “Modify Proctoring Profile” for individual students or a group of students.
NOTE: Even when using YuJa Verity, all quiz timing, attempts, and due dates must be set in Canvas.
