Overview
This article provides instructions for opening departmental email accounts in the Outlook desktop app and through Outlook on the Web.
Departmental email accounts are different than shared mailboxes. For instructions on opening a shared mailbox, visit Shared Mailbox: Opening a Mailbox or Calendar.

Instructions
Outlook on the Web
- Go to office365.utk.edu and sign in with your UT email address and password.
- In the left side menu, click Outlook.
- In the upper right corner of your screen, click the circle that has your initials or profile picture. Click Sign-in with a different account.
- Click Use Another Account.
- Enter the departmental email address and password to sign in.
Outlook Desktop for Windows
New Outlook
- Click View in the upper left corner of the Outlook window.
- Click View Settings.
- Click Accounts. Then, click Email Accounts.
- Click the + next to Add Account.
- When prompted, enter the departmental account email address. Then, click Continue and enter the password for the departmental account.
Legacy Outlook
- Click File in the upper left corner of the Outlook window.
- Click + Add Account.
- When prompted, enter the departmental account email address. Then, click Connect.
- Enter the password for the departmental account. Then, click OK and Finish.
Outlook Desktop for macOS
- In the upper left corner of your screen, click Outlook.
- Click Settings.
- Click Accounts.
- Click the + in the lower left corner of the pop-up window. Then, click Add an account.
- Enter the departmental email address and password to sign in.
