You can change the course name for any of your Online@UT (Canvas) course sites.
- Enter your Canvas course site.
- On the bottom left of the course navigation menu, click the Settings link.
- Click on the Course Details tab.
- In the Name: field, enter your desired course name.
- Click the Update Course Details button at the bottom of the page.
For example, if you have a course named Special Topics, we recommend that you rename your course site. Doing so will help you and your students more easily identify which course it is. Certain helpful information in course names:
- Time of class meeting
- Days of the week of class meeting
- A name more descriptive of the subject being taught
None of the above information is required, but many instructors find that including some of the course name strategies offered helps them to differentiate their different course sites within Canvas.
NOTE: We do not recommend changing the Course Code: field, as these codes follow a specific naming convention to make them easier to track and identify.
