Canvas: Export Published Course Content From Modules

Students can download published course content from any current Canvas course that uses Modules to organize and share course materials.

  1. In a published, current Canvas course, navigate to the Modules area.

  2. In the upper right hand corner of the Modules area, click on the Export Course Content button.
The Export Course Content button in Canvas Modules

  3. Once the Export Course Content button has been clicked, you will be redirected to the Export Package History page for this course.

Depending on the size and number of course files, export preparation can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. At the end of the export packaging process, the compressed file will be automatically downloaded, although you can download it again by clicking on the dated link for it next to "Most Recent Export".

Files that are linked within Pages that are unpublished and/or Modules that are unpublished will not be part of the export package. Only materials that are published and visible to students will be part of the export/download.

If an instructor does not use the Modules area, or has the Modules area hidden from students, Export Course Content will not be an option.
