Microsoft 365 PowerPoint: Adding animations across a presentation

Tags Powerpoint

Overview

If you need to add animations to every slide in your PowerPoint presentation, you can edit the Master Slides for that presentation and then select that animation as a feature on each slide individually. This way, instead of adding an animation to have each bullet point appear on each slide, you add the animation for the bullet points on the master slide. Then, you tell the slide to follow the animations you set up on the master slide.

Instructions in your PowerPoint Presentation:

  1. Go to the View menu
  2. Select Slide Master to view the slide master

    steps 1 and 2

  3. Choose a slide master layout to edit
  4. On the slide master layout, select the bulleted text you want to have animations
  5. Go to the Animations menu
  6. Select the animation you wish to use (for example, Appear)
Note: This will then put a 1 animation next to each bullet in the list.
  7. Go to the double down arrow in the animation pane to expand the list of bullet points

    Steps 5, 6, and 7

  8. Under the list of bullet points, select Second level bullet point
  9. Most to the Start: section and choose On Click

    Step 8 and 9

  10. Repeat Step 8 with the third, fourth, and fifth-level bullet points
  11. Repeat this process on each of the slide layouts under the Master Slide view
  12. Go back to the View menu and choose Normal to return to the normal view of your PowerPoint.
  13. Choose a slide with bullet points and go to the Animations menu
  14. Select the Animation Pane to open it
  15. Select Layout Body in the Animation pane
  16. Click on the black down arrow to the right of Layout: Body
  17. Choose Copy Effects to Slide

    Steps 13 through 17

  18. Repeat this on each slide
