Canvas: Turnitin Similiarity

Overview

Turnitin Similarity is the University of Tennessee, Knoxville's originality and plagiarism prevention service. It is intended to deter plagiarism and promote academic integrity. Turnitin Similarity is a tool that can help students learn how to properly use citations and paraphrasing in their papers which can help students produce original work. Turnitin Similarity can be accessed through Online@UT (Canvas).

How Does Turnitin Similarity Work?

Turnitin Similarity is available in Online@UT (Canvas) through the Canvas Assignment feature. Instructors can create an online assignment and add Turnitin Similarity to that assignment. When students upload written work to the assignment, Turnitin Similarity compares the submissions against a repository of publications, journals, periodicals, other internet sources, and student-submitted work. A detailed Similarity Report is generated for both instructors and students that identify text similar to these sources.
