Canvas: Receiving Multiple Copies of Push Notifications


The Canvas family of apps uses something called a token to help them to authenticate and log in.

Typically, these tokens expire and are removed on their own. Occasionally, some tokens will not automatically be removed, and that is what causes multiple copies of the same push notification.


  1. Log into Canvas
  2. Navigate to Account, and then Settings
  3. Scroll down to Approved Integrations, and click on the trash can icon to delete any instance of a Canvas app's token there, including:
    • Canvas for iOS
    • Canvas for Android
    • Canvas Teacher for iOS
    • Canvas Teacher for Android

Once this has been done, there should only be one copy of each push notification coming from the Canvas Student (or Canvas Teacher) app.
