NetID: Obtain a NetID for a New Hire Before They Start Work

Are you hiring?

Regular Staff and Faculty new hires become pending workers when the candidates are Moved to HR during the hiring process in Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC). If a temporary faculty new hire needs access before the date of hire, follow the same process as hiring a regular faculty new hire using ORC. Once processed, new employees will be assigned a NetID and email account within 1-2 business days. Once their NetID is created, they gain access to IT resources, such as email, software, library databases, DASH Employee Self-Service, and more.

If you find yourself in a bind and need a NetID for a new employee sooner than the typical cycle allows, you can request one by filling out our online Request for NetID Form. This account will be manually created and will have limited access to UT resources until the new employee's information is synced across the systems. Requests for new NetIDs are typically processed within three business days.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is encouraged for all new employees when they set up their initial NetID password; however, it is not required until their status changes from Pending to Active.
