NetID: Obtain a NetID for a New Hire Before They Start Work

Are you hiring?

You can help your new hires obtain timely access to IT resources by completing the IRIS Transaction: ZPHRRECORD000 – Record PendingEmployee with your department's Pending Employee position. Once processed, new employees will be assigned a NetID and email account, and they can gain access to several other IT resources, such as software, library databases, MyIRIS Employee Self-Service, and more.

If you find yourself in a bind and need a NetID for a new employee sooner than the typical cycle allows, you can request one by filling out our online Request for NetID Form. This account will be manually created, and as a result, will have limited access to UT resources until the new employee's information has traversed the various systems. Requests for new NetIDs are typically processed within three business days.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is encouraged for all new employees when they set up their initial NetID password; however, it is not be required until their status changes from Pending to Active.
