Installing Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus

Overview

Microsoft Office ProPlus is available for Students, Faculty, and Staff. To download Office ProPlus, log in to your Office 365 UTK Organizational Account at https://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx or follow the instructions below. Additional information, including eligibility requirements, is available online at http://oit.utk.edu/proplus.

For all computer and mobile devices, logging in to Microsoft Office ProPlus is the same. If you have a personal Microsoft account with the same username, you will be prompted to choose between using a Microsoft account or a Work account. Choose Work account.

  • Username: Staff/Faculty - netid@utk.edu | Students - netid@vols.utk.edu
  • Password: NetID Password

Windows

Microsoft Office 2019 is available for Windows 10.

  1. Log in to your Office 365 Account (http://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx.)
  2. The page will display what Office options are available for you, 64-bit is the default. Click the Install Office button to install Office.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and the streaming installation will begin.
  4. A video will display to explain the new features of Office 365 ProPlus.  While the video plays, the installation will continue in the background until the software has been fully installed.  You can use the basic features immediately, but do not go offline or restart your computer until the installation is complete.

Mac

Microsoft Office 2019 is available for Macs running macOS Sierra 10.13.6 or later. 

  1. Log in to your Office 365 Account (http://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx.)
  2. The page will display what Office options are available for you. Click the Install Office button to install Office.
    • Note: If you are running macOS 10.10 through 10.12.6, there is an option to download Office 365 for those versions. 
  3. Once the download completes, double-click the package file to run the installer. 
  4. After you have completed the install process, open an Office application (such as Word) and you will be prompted to click Sign In To Activate.
  5. On the next screen, enter your netid@utk.edu (staff/faculty) | netid@vols.utk.edu (students) and click Next.
  6. If you are prompted to choose the Microsoft account or Work account, choose Work Account.
  7. Enter your password and click Sign In. Your Mac may prompt you that "Microsoft Office Setup Assistant would like to access your contacts." click OK.
  8. Once you have finished activation, your application should open and be ready for use.

iOS and Android

Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus includes applications for iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android.  Download links and details about available applications are found on the Microsoft Office site

  1. After finding and downloading the desired Office app in your respective app store, launch one of the apps, such as Word.
  2. The first time you launch an app, it will ask you to sign in. Click Sign In.
  3. On the next screen log in as described in the Overview.
  4. Once you are logged in you will be able to create new documents and view documents in OneDrive.  Logging in to one of the Office apps will automatically log you into other Microsoft apps the next time you launch the app.
