Zoom: Customize Waiting Room

Overview

The Waiting Room is a virtual waiting area. When applied to a LiveOnline@UT (Zoom) session, attendees first enter the Waiting Room before joining the main session. The instructor or meeting leader may admit attendees one at a time, or all at once, from the Participants menu.

These tips may be useful for engaging the Waiting Room with your online classes or meetings.

  • The Waiting Room is part of the security options. It's available during the session setup and also on the Host tools icon on the meeting toolbar.
  • The Waiting Room may be engaged and disengaged at any time during the session, even if the Waiting Room was not applied during the session setup process.
  • The instructor or meeting leader can send a chat message to Waiting Room attendees via the Chat window in the session.

The Waiting Room may be customized to include a banner and text message that pertains to the event. It's also possible to make exceptions to the Waiting Room and allow some attendees into the Main Session (and skip the Waiting Room).
