Zoom: Annotation Icon Not Showing

If the Annotate icon is not available on the Share Screen toolbar, please try the following troubleshooting steps.

  1. Upgrade to the latest version of Zoom. To get the latest version, please go to tennessee.zoom.us and select the Download Zoom (located on the bottom-left of the page).
  2. Review your UT Zoom account settings and if necessary, toggle the Annotation setting to On. Please go to tennessee.zoom.us and select "Create or Edit Account" to log in with your NetID and password. After logging in, choose Settings on the menu, on the left. Locate the In Meeting (Basic) section, and toggle Annotation to On.
  3. The Share Screen toolbar only appears during a Share Screen activity. To engage the Annotation tools, be sure to share a content item or the whiteboard.

Please keep in mind that the tools available in the Zoom session can depend on the Zoom version and the device being used at the time. For example, mobile app users may not have access to all annotation tools. We recommend using a desktop or laptop whenever possible, for the best in-meeting experience.
