Canvas: Troubleshoot Internet Browser Issues

Tags Canvas

Overview

Most of the common problems that users encounter within Canvas are due to issues with the user's browser. This is one of the reasons we recommend that all faculty, staff, and students have more than one browser installed on any computer from which they log in to Canvas.

Instructions

  1. Try a second browser. This is the quickest troubleshooting you can do when experiencing issues in Canvas. This will often solve the problem, and will also help OIT to troubleshoot the issue if you contact us for help. Accessing Canvas with a second browser is one of the first things you should try when running into issues, and it is also one of the easiest things to try.
  2. Clearing the browser's cache can fix other accessibility and technical problems. Browsers "cache" information about a website, including images, audio or video files, and log-in information (in the form of cookies), so that it will load quickly if the user returns.

Review the latest browser and computer requirements in the Canvas Guides for the most current information. It is important to keep the browser up-to-date on personal computers.
