ArcGIS Pro: Best practices for accessing ArcGIS via Apps@UTK

Overview

ArcGIS Pro is a powerful geographic information system (GIS) software used for spatial analysis, data visualization, and geoprocessing. At the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), students, faculty, and staff can access ArcGIS Pro through Apps@UTK, a cloud-based virtual desktop environment. This guide outlines best practices to ensure a smooth and efficient experience when using ArcGIS Pro via Apps@UTK.

Instructions

  1. On the OIT Software Download page, navigate to Apps@UTK on the left and log in using your NetID and Password.
     
  2. Download and install the Citrix Receiver.
    1. Choose 'Accept' on the monitored computer system prompt.
    2. Choose the option to 'Detect Citrix Workspace App'

  3. Download and install the Ivanti VPN client. This will allow you to connect to the UTK network remotely and access local files on your device from Apps@UT.
     
  4. Map your T-storage drive to your machine.
    1. Map T-storage on Mac

  6.   7. Select 'Sign in With SSO', then sign in using your UTK NetID and Password.

Citrix Light Version

If your Citrix Workspace seems to be struggling to operate smoothly, try using the light version by selecting 'Use Light Version' on the login page. If you have already logged in, you can switch to light mode by selecting the Settings icon in the top right, choosing Account settings, then Change Citrix Workspace app.
