Microsoft Outlook and Teams Meeting Invitations

Overview

Seeming to receive multiple invitations for the same meeting in Outlook and Teams is because Microsoft is sending a split invitation to Outlook and another invitation to Teams. You can interact with the invitation from either Teams or Outlook.

Information

Microsoft now sends meeting invitations to both Outlook and Teams. You can respond to the meeting invitation from either Outlook or Teams and it will then appear on your calendar.

In Outlook:

The invitation appears split. The top part of the invitation will show a snippet of your calendar. The bottom section allows you to Accept, Decline, or Follow the meeting as well as add a message to the meeting organizer. The Follow option lets the meeting organizer know you can not attend but do want to continue to receive information about the meeting. The Tentative option has been moved to the ellipsis ... menu along with the Propose new time option.
