Overview
If Argos reports are not opening in Excel (in Windows 10), this is an issue with the file association setting in Windows 10. By default, CSV files are seen as text files, not Excel files. To open the report, you will need to set Windows 10 to open .csv files with Excel.
How To
- On the Start menu, select Settings > Apps > Default apps or Search for Default Apps.
- Scroll down and select Choose default apps by file type.
- Once you have clicked on the Choose default apps by file type link, you should be presented with a list of file type associations. Scroll down the list to find .csv.
- Your .csv file association may be “Notepad” or “Choose a default.” This is where we need to change it to Excel.
- To set the “.csv” default app, select the current default app which will present a pop-up to select a new app. Select Excel.
- Once your default app for “.csv” is set to Excel, try to open your Argos report and it should now open in Excel, instead of Notepad.
