Panopto: Download Presentation Slides

Overview

Follow the instructions below to learn how to download PowerPoint or Keynote slides from your Panopto presentations or allow your students to download slides. You must have Creator access to the video in order to proceed. Please note that you must have recorded the presentation using the Panopto desktop recording application. If you recorded using Panopto Capture (browser-based recorder), you do not have the ability to download the slide file. You can, however, manually upload it to the presentation after recording and then allow for download access later. Instructions for both are below.

How to Download PowerPoint or Keynote Slides from a Panopto Presentation

If you recorded your Panopto presentation with PowerPoint (.PPT) or Keynote (.KEY) slides using the Panopto desktop recording application, you can download the presentation slides from Panopto. Note that even if you only present part of the slide deck in the recording, the entire slide deck file with all slides included is available for download - this includes presenter notes.

There are two use cases involved here:

  1. You simply want to download a copy of your slides
    • Examples:
      • You lost the original file
      • You no longer have access
      • You want an extra copy
  2. You want to allow your students to download the slides so they have a copy of their own
    • Examples:
      • You want the resource to be available to your students

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the video with the slides you want to download.
  2. Click the Settings button for that video.
  3. Click the Streams tab on the left side of the window
  4. Under Presentation Documents, you will see the file listed (the file name will be a long string of characters and numbers followed by the file extension: .PPT or .KEY).
  5. Check Allow to enable the ability to download the PowerPoint slides
  6. Exit the settings menu by clicking the X in the top right corner of the screen.
  7. Click the title of the presentation to open it in a new window.
  8. Click the Attachments tab on the left side of the screen (see arrow below). This will open the tab where the presentation file (.PPT or .KEY) is available for download.
  9. Click the File Name to download the file to your computer (see arrow below). Note again that, regardless if you only presented a partial deck, the full slide deck is available for download to anyone with access to the video.
