Zoom: Schedule a Meeting

Overview

This article describes how to create a UT Zoom account and how to schedule a Zoom meeting. All faculty, staff, and students may create a UT Zoom account, schedule and host meetings.

Getting Started

A UT Zoom account is necessary to schedule and host a meeting, and to engage all the tools and features of our UT Zoom environment. Staff and students can schedule meetings via the Zoom Workplace desktop app or our UT Zoom page. UT faculty have the additional option to schedule meetings via Online@UT (Canvas) course site. 

Be sure to activate your UT Zoom account. You will need your UT NetID and password, and you may be prompted to authenticate. All UT faculty, staff, and students may create a UT Zoom account.

Schedule a Meeting via the Zoom Workplace Desktop Application

  1. Select the Zoom Workplace icon on the desktop, task bar, or in programs/applications list to open the application.
  2. Select Login in with SSO (or, Sign In with SSO).
  3. Enter the word tennessee (lower case) for the company domain and select Continue.  
  4. Log in with your NetID and password and the desktop application will open.
  5. To schedule a meeting for an upcoming date and time, choose the Schedule icon.
  6. Enter a topic for the meeting, select a date and time, and select meeting options. 
  7. Choose Save to save the meeting.

Once the meeting has been scheduled, it will appear on the Meetings list in the Zoom Workplace desktop application. To view upcoming meetings, select the Meetings icon on the desktop application window. Select this article link to review more information about the Zoom Workplace desktop app.

Schedule a Meeting via Canvas

Remember, this option is only available for instructors within a course site.

  1. Be sure to set your primary email account in Canvas before proceeding.
  2. Go to the Canvas course and select it.
  3. Review the course menu on the left and select Zoom.
  4. Choose Schedule a New Meeting
  5. Be sure to save the meeting.
    NOTE: By default, the Canvas/Zoom integration will only display the online classrooms scheduled within the course. To view the full list of all online classrooms and meetings for your account, go to our UT Zoom page and select Create or Log In to sign in with your NetID and password. 

Schedule Meetings via tennessee.zoom.us

  1. Go to our UT Zoom page and select Create or Log In to sign in with your NetID and password. 
  2. Choose Meetings on the left, and then +Schedule a Meeting in the upper-right corner of your screen. 
  3. Enter a topic for the meeting, select a date and time, and select meeting options. 
  4. Select Save
