How do I set email forwarding for my Microsoft 365 account?


Starting Fall 2021, faculty and staff will no longer be able to automatically forward their university email to a personal email address. This change, along with the previous change, is made at the recommendation of General Counsel and Audit and Compliance.  

Set email forwarding

  1. Sign in to Outlook on the Web.
  2. At the top of the page, choose the app launcher and select Outlook.
  3. At the top of the page, select Settings.
  4. Under Your app settings, choose Mail.
  5. On the left side, select Mail > Accounts > Forwarding.
  6. Choose Start forwarding, enter the email address you want to forward to, and set or clear the Keep a copy of forwarded messages check box as preferred.
  7. Select Save.

Stop email forwarding

  1. In Outlook on the Web, within Outlook, select Settings.
  2. Under Your app Settings, choose Mail.
  3. On the left side, select Mail > Accounts > Forwarding.
  4. Choose Stop forwarding.
  5. Select Save.
