Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA§ 49-9-401) formally created the Institute for Public Service (IPS) as a public service arm of the university “to provide continuing research and technical assistance to state and local government and industry and to meet more adequately the need for information and research in business and government.”

IPS’s eight agencies take the expertise of a statewide university to its customers - leaders in government, business, and law enforcement to help them solve real-world problems every day.

Five of the eight agencies use the university’s K@TE learning management system to provide online training for their external customers.

IPS Agencies Offering Training Resources in K@TE:

Center for Industrial Services (CIS)

County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS)

Law Enforcement Innovation Center (LEIC)

Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS)
