Duo Two-Factor Hardware Token Request

Duo two-factor authentication is an extra layer of account security. It requires you to confirm your identity using your Login credentials and a personal device when trying to access University systems.

OIT recommends using the Duo Mobile App on your smartphone for two-factor authentication. Instructions for setting up your smartphone are available in the OIT Knowledge Base. However, If you do not have a smartphone, active Knox-area faculty, staff, students, retirees, and alumni may request a hardware token for use with Duo two-factor authentication. Pricing and eligibility details are below.

Pricing and Eligibility

Staff/Faculty

  • Staff and Faculty are no longer eligible for a free token. 
  • All tokens must be purchased via Departmental charge via Pinnacle.
  • There are 2 options: 
    • Token Only: $10
    • Token + Shipping via FedEx: $22
  • Replacement Exceptions:
    • Dead Battery – OIT will replace the token at no cost.
    • Destroyed/Lost/Damage – The department will need to purchase a new token from VolTech, located in the Student Union on Level G3. 

Students/Retirees/Alumni

  • Students, retirees, and alumni can receive one token at no cost.
  • Replacement Exceptions:
    • Dead Battery – OIT will replace the token at no cost.
    • Additional Token /Destroyed / Lost / Damaged – The user will need to purchase a new token from VolTech, located in the Student Union on Level G3.
