Overview
Some text-to-speech tools, such as Kurzweil 3000, available through the OIT Software Distribution page, work only through a browser extension. To allow students to use these tools during an assessment, it's important to make sure they're not being blocked in YuJa Verity's settings.
When you create the quiz, be sure to select the Browser Extension Proctoring platform.
-
In the YuJa Verity Configurations settings, you can allow students to access the Text-to-Speech translation tool by leaving the Disable Browser Extensions option disabled when setting up the quiz.

-
If you choose to enable certain browser extensions, you can block third-party extensions by default while adding the text-to-speech extension as an allowed exception

NOTE: The Verity Desktop Lockdown App is not compatible with browser-based screen readers. If you have a student who needs to use a browser-based screen reader, consider using the Verity Browser Extension instead of the Lockdown App. If you need the extra security of the Lockdown App for the rest of the class, then you can create an accommodation profile for your student needing the screen reader.
