NOTE: As of 31 July 2021, the Respondus LockDown Browser (LDB) is no longer supported within Online@UT (Canvas).
The WebAssign version is Respondus OEM - This LDB must be downloaded from the following URL: https://www.webassign.net/manual/student_guide/install-lockdown-browser.htm as it is specific to WebAssign.
- How to use (dependent on how your instructor provides access to your WebAssign course):
- Log in to Canvas via a regular browser window (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge) with your NetID, Password, and authenticate.
- Access your Canvas course site and navigate to the respective WebAssign assignment.
- Click the WebAssign assignment and it will automatically launch the WebAssign LDB.
NOTE: Do not open the WebAssign LDB first as it will not work.
Helpful download and installation tips:
- Mac users - It is best to download the zip file in Safari. Chrome or Firefox are still the recommended browsers when completing the WebAssign assignments.
- PC users - Sometimes when the Windows link to download is clicked, nothing happens, however, if the student right clicks on the link and chooses to open in a new tab, it will download correctly.
- The LDB should notify students to close any open windows/documents but a best practice would be to do this prior to launching the LDB assignment.
