Add a New Device to Duo
After you have set up Duo for the first time, you can add, remove, or change your devices. To add a device for the first time, visit: Duo 2FA: Mobile Phone Setup.
You can add multiple devices to Duo, such as an iPad as a backup. Additionally, if you are getting a new phone, if you add your new phone to Duo before wiping and trading in your old phone, you will have a smoother transition experience. If you no longer have the old device, try the Duo Restore process on the new device.
- Go to tiny.utk.edu/manage2fa.
- Log in with your NetID and NetID password.
- Authenticate with your preferred authentication method. If you cannot authenticate, you will need to contact the HelpDesk at 865-974-9900 for a bypass code.
- Click Add another device.
- Follow the prompts. Once you scan the QR code and a green checkmark appears, your device is successfully enrolled.
Remove a Device From Duo
To remove a device from Duo, you must still have access to a previously enrolled device. Please see the instructions above if you no longer possess a successfully enrolled device.
- Sign in to the Duo 2FA Management Portal.
- Authenticate using a previously enrolled device.
- Click the Device Options button next to the device you want to remove, and then click the trash can button to delete that device.
- Confirm that you want to delete that device, which will be removed from your profile.
Change a Device Name
- Sign in to the Duo 2FA Management Portal.
- Authenticate using a previously enrolled device.
- Click the Device Options button next to the device you want to name.
- Click Change Device Name.
- Enter the desired name, such as "Your Name - Phone Type" (Tony Stark - iPhone), then click Save.
