Otter.ai

Overview

Otter.ai is a real-time notetaking and transcription application. One of the features offered by Otter.ai is the option for the Otter.ai pilotbot to automatically attend all online meetings that appear on your calendar (this includes Zoom meetings, MS Teams meetings, Google Meets, etc.). The Otter.ai pilotbot can also transcribe notes and send the notes to all attendees of the meeting.

However, these may not be the desired actions in all situations.

Instructions

The following instructions assist in turning off the Auto-Join feature in Otter.ai for all meetings and describe how to keep meeting notes private.

Otter.ai - Turn Off Auto-Join

1. Sign in to Otter.ai.
2. Click on your profile and navigate to Account Settings > Meetings.
3. Under the OtterPilot section, toggle off Auto-join all meetings.
4. A pop-up will alert you to how many upcoming meetings OtterPilot is scheduled to join automatically. Select Yes, turn them off to proceed with toggling off auto-join.
5. OtterPilot will no longer automatically join your synced calendar events.
   
6. You can verify by going to the calendar on the Home page and verifying that OtterPilot is toggled off for your upcoming meetings.

Otter.ai – Turn off Auto-Share of Conversations

1. Sign in to Otter.ai.
2. Click on your profile and navigate to Account Settings > Meetings.
3. Under the Sharing section, click on the drop-down menu next to “Default audience for shared notes.” Select “Don't Share-keep my notes private.”
   
4. All calendar event conversations will no longer be shared. This setting affects all calendar events recorded manually or through OtterPilot.
