Overview
Peer reviews can be used with group assignments.
Instructions
Step 1: Create a Group Set and associated Groups.
You can create a group set manually, automatically, or by importing a CSV file.

Step 2: Create the assignment with Group Assignment and Peer Review selected.

Step 3: Select Save & Publish.
Select Save & Publish. You can now manage a Group Peer Review assignment as you would manage any other standard peer review assignment.
- To assign grades to each student individually for a group peer review assignment, select the Assign Grades to Each Student Individually checkbox.
- If you select Manually Assign Peer Reviews, you can assign students from one group to peer review students from a different group OR assign them to peer review students within their group.
- If you select Automatically Assign Peer Reviews, the default is that members of one group will be automatically (and randomly) be assigned to peer review members of a different group. With this option, there will be an extra Allow intra-group peer reviews checkbox that allows assignments to be truly random and disregard student group associations.
Example of selecting “Automatically Assign Peer Reviews”

Additional Considerations
-It may take up to one hour for Canvas to assign peer reviews.
A student's peer review is considered complete after they comment on the submission. If a rubric has been added to the assignment, they must also fill out that rubric.
If you do not require students to leave comments for peer reviews with a rubric, you cannot view when a student completes the peer review.
