Overview
The new Microsoft Teams app is a rebuilt version of the classic Teams app with a performance-first mindset. It is faster, simpler, and more flexible than ever before. If you’re still using classic Teams, you will be automatically upgraded to the new Teams in the coming months. To switch to the new Teams, flip the toggle next to “Try the new Teams” in the upper-left corner of the classic Teams app. Switch to the new Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support
Differences
Here are some of the differences between the two versions:
- Performance: The new Teams app is faster, uses less battery and memory, and allows you to switch between apps, respond to chat messages, and join meetings and calls more quickly.
- Layout: The new Teams app has the same layout as the classic Teams app but with fewer clicks to launch and navigate.
- Features: The new Teams app has feature parity with the classic Teams app, but new features and enhancements will be available exclusively in the new Teams.
Tips
Switching Between Teams List View and Tile View
The default Teams view in New Teams is the Tile view. To switch back to the List View in Teams, go to the three dots in the upper-right-hand corner and select Settings. In the left menu, select Appearance and Accessibility> Layout > Choose how you want to navigate between teams.
Video Calling
Video calling now takes two clicks from a chat thread. In the upper-right-hand corner, select the arrow beside the phone icon, then select Video Call to start the call with Video.
