Adding an Outlook Calendar to Thunderbird

  1. In the lower-left corner of the Thunderbird window, click the Settings Gear Icon.
  2. Click Add-Ons and Themes in the lower-left corner. 
     
  3. In the Find more add-ons search box, type TbSync, and press Enter.
  4. Click the green Add to Thunderbird button for first result, TbSync.
  5. At the permission prompt, click Add​​​​​​. Then, click OK
  6. Now, type Provider for Exchange ActiveSync in the search bar and press Enter
  7. Click the green Add to Thunderbird button. 
  8. At the permission prompt, click Add​​​​​​. Then, click OK
  9. Close the Add-on search tab.
  10. Click the Calendar Icon in the left-side menu. 
  11. In the lower right corner of Thunderbird, click TbSync: Idle. 
  12. In the window that appears, select Account Actions > Add new account > Exchange ActiveSync. 
  13. Select account type Microsoft Office 365. 
  14. Enter an account name (e.g. UTK Office 365). 
  15. Enter your UTK email address.
  16. Click Add Account
  17. In the pop-up that appears, enter your NetID password. 
  18. When prompted, complete Duo 2FA. 
  19. Click Accept for the permissions request from "Provider for Exchange ActiveSync for Office 365". 
  20. When you are returned to the TbSync configuration window, check the box for Enable and synchronize this account. TbSync signs in and scans for available resources. 
  21. Check the boxes for desired resources to sync to Thunderbird. When finished, click Synchronize Now in the lower right. 
  22. If the status changes to OK, close the TbSync window. Selected calendars now appear in the Thunderbird calendar list (prefixed with the account name provided earlier). 

Exporting a Thunderbird Calendar

  1. To export, select the desired calendar from the list, then right-click on it. 
  2. Choose Export calendar...
  3. Specify the location to save the exported calendar file (.ics) and click Save.
