Tiny URL: Create, Manage, or Renew URLs

Overview

A URL shortener allows you to create smaller URLs that can be linked to a website that may have a complex or lengthy native URL. UT offers our own URL shortener service called tiny.utk.edu which can be used by anyone with a valid NetID and password. Tiny URLs must be renewed every 365 days. 

Creating a Tiny URL

  1. Visit tiny.utk.edu and sign in using your NetID and password.
  2. Enter the existing URL for the site.
  3. Choose a Tiny URL to use. NOTE: The URL must be unique.
  4. Click Create my URL.

Managing & Renewing Tiny URLs that you own

  1. Visit tiny.utk.edu and sign in using your NetID and password
  2. On the upper right, click Manage my URLs
  3. You will see a list of all URLs which you own.

Edit/Renew

  • Edit - Select a URL and choose Edit/Renew to change the Full URL, Short URL, or Owner. Edit multiple URLs by checking the boxes or clicking Select All URLs
  • Renew - Select a URL and choose Edit/Renew to renew your URL for 365 Days. Renew multiple URLs by checking the boxes or clicking Select All URLs.
    • To Renew, select Yes next to Renew for 365 Days and click Update.

Delete

Select the URL and delete it.
