Changes to Antivirus & Malware Protection
The University’s contract with Malwarebytes expired on August 17, 2022. The Office of Innovative Technologies (OIT) recommends using Microsoft Defender, the built-in antivirus and malware protection for Windows. Defender for macOS is available for ut-owned computers on the software download site. OIT currently does not provide an antivirus solution for personally-owned macOS devices
Uninstall Malwarebytes
University-owned Windows computers
Any Malwarebytes clients currently managed from the cloud, including most university-owned Windows computers and the software distributed by OIT, were removed on August 17, 2022, at 5:00 PM EDT.
Personal Computers
If you downloaded the software from Malwarebytes directly, we recommend that you remove the software as you will be unable to renew your university subscription.
