Zoom: Classic Notes and new My Notes

Zoom offers two versions of note-taking features. These are Zoom Classic Notes and the new My Notes tool. Both note features are compatible with the Zoom AI Companion.

Getting Started with Zoom Classic Notes

Zoom Classic Notes allows meeting hosts to create a text note in real-time, add links and images to the note, and then save and share the note with attendees. For best results, be sure to have the latest version of Zoom installed on your device.

  • Before a meeting: Create a note, build an agenda, and share it with attendees in advance of the meeting.
  • During a meeting: Open a note and share it with others so they can collaborate during the meeting.
  • After a meeting: Share a note with anyone who may benefit from the content.

The Zoom Notes tool is available on the meeting toolbar, in the Zoom Workplace desktop app, and in the web interface. A Zoom Note can be created, saved, and then edited and shared at any time. Meeting leaders may choose to allow participants to share notes, or not, during the meeting.

Getting Started with Zoom My Notes

Zoom My Notes is a note-taking feature that can be combined with meeting transcripts and Zoom's AI Companion. For example, use Zoom's AI Companion to request the next steps or action items from My Notes or a meeting transcript, and then share these steps with other UT Zoom account holders. Please keep the following tips in mind. For more information and suggestions on how to engage My Notes, please review this Zoom article.

  • My Notes must be enabled within your UT Zoom account before it can be engaged.
  • Zoom recommends accessing My Notes from the Zoom Workplace desktop app. Select the Hub icon in the Zoom Workplace app to review, delete, or share My Notes.

To enable My Notes, sign into your UT Zoom account and access the My Notes feature.

  1. Please go to tennessee.zoom.us and log in to your UT Zoom account.
  2. Select Settings on the left-side menu, and then select the Notes heading.
  3. Enable My Notes and other features as desired.
  4. After the My Notes feature is enabled, you may access My Notes during the meeting via the notes icon on the top-right of the meeting interface. Please keep in mind that the following screen shot is from the host's point of view, so the host is accessing the My Notes icon. To access My Notes as a participant, the host of the meeting must grant access for use.
