Purpose:
This waiver acknowledges that the Moving Services Team may assist with moving IT-related and/or sensitive equipment as a courtesy service. The University does not guarantee the safe transport of such items, and any movement of equipment is performed strictly at the request of the undersigned.
Acknowledgment of Risk:
I, the undersigned, understand and acknowledge that:
1. IT and sensitive equipment (including but not limited to computers, servers, audiovisual devices, laboratory instruments, and other fragile electronics) are inherently susceptible to damage during handling and transport.
2. Moving Services Team is not a specialized IT moving service and may not have specialized equipment or packing materials designed for high-sensitivity items.
3. Facilities Services, its employees, and the Moving Services Team are not responsible for any loss, damage, malfunction, or data loss to the equipment during or after the move.
Release of Liability:
By signing this document, I release and hold harmless the University of Tennessee, its officers, employees, and agents from all liability, claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
• Physical damage to equipment.
• Loss of functionality or operational issues.
• Data loss or corruption.
• Any resulting business or research interruption.
Owner's Responsibility:
I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to:
• Back up all data before the move.
• Properly disconnect, label, and prepare equipment for transport.
• Provide or arrange any necessary specialized packing, protection, or transport.
