Default Monthly Allowances
OIT provides monthly AI Hub usage allowances to support academic, research, and university business activities.
The following AI Hub usage allowances are provided automatically:
- Faculty and staff receive a $50 monthly AI Hub usage allowance.
- Undergraduate and graduate students receive a $20 monthly AI Hub usage allowance.
For users receiving the standard allowance, 100% usage represents the full monthly allowance amount shown above.
Understanding Usage Allowances
An AI Hub usage allowance is the amount of AI services available to a user each month. Allowances are expressed as dollar values, while the AI Hub displays usage as a percentage of the monthly allowance.
Example: A user with a $50 monthly allowance who uses $25 in AI services will see 50% usage.
Additional Allowance Requests
Departments can fund expanded AI Hub usage allowances for employees, graduate student assistants, undergraduate student assistants, and sponsored users by submitting an online request. A Dean, Director, or Department Head must approve these requests.
Expanded Allowance Options
The tiers below apply uniformly to all eligible groups — employees, graduate student assistants, undergraduate student assistants, and sponsored users. There is no separate or reduced tier structure for students.

Yes — graduate student assistants use the exact same expanded allowance tiers as employees, undergraduate student assistants, and sponsored users; pricing and allowance levels do not differ by group. Requests must be submitted through the AI Hub allowance request process and approved by a Dean, Director, or Department Head.
What is the dollar ($) value of 100% usage for a faculty account?
For a faculty account on the default allowance, 100% usage equals $50 per month. If a department has funded an expanded tier for that account instead, 100% usage equals that tier's monthly amount (e.g., $200/month at the $1,800/year tier).
