Microsoft Clipchamp: Recording Text to Speech

Overview

Do you need to have an audio-only recording to embed in your PowerPoint? Or do you want to have a voice over that uses AI voices to read your text? Use Clipchamp. Clipchamp is a simple-to-use app available to you in your Microsoft 365 subscription. Clipchamp has features from Flipgrid and Microsoft Stream combined into one app. Clipchamp works best with short videos.

Instructions

1. Log into your Microsoft 365 account by going to office365.utk.edu
2. Go to apps > more apps > all apps and find Clipchamp 
3. Choose Video project (even if you only want to record audio)
   
4. Choose Record & Create
5. Choose Text to speech
6. Choose the AI Voice you would like to use (use the option to Hear this voice to test it out)
7. Enter in the text you would like to include. (Suggestion, for PowerPoint slides, make a recording for each slide individually)
8. When finished, choose Export
   
9. You may need to open the drop down menu under Quality to choose Audio-only
10. Enter your file name
11. Choose where you wish to save the file. (Suggestion, for PowerPoint slides, save the file in the same OneDrive folder as you are saving your PowerPoint)
12. Choose Export
    
    • To add the recordings into PowerPoint, go to Insert>Video choose the recording and then choose if you are having it play automatically or on-click)
