Overview
Your computer’s hostname is a unique identifier used to distinguish it on a network. This guide will walk you through the steps to locate your hostname in Windows 10.
Method 1: Using the Command Prompt

Open Command Prompt:
- Press
Windows + R
to open the Run
dialog box.
- Type
cmd
and press Enter.

Run the Hostname Command:
- In the Command Prompt window, type
hostname
and press Enter.
- The output will display your computer’s hostname.
Method 2: Using System Settings

Open System Settings:
- Right-click on the
Start
button (or press Windows + X
) and select System from the menu.

View Device Name:
- In the About section of System settings, look for the Device name field. This is your computer’s hostname.
