Overview
UT Google accounts include a mix of apps and services for faculty, staff, and students. The most used apps are listed below. OIT strongly recommends only using your UT Google account for school or work; access to these features is only available while you are an active faculty, staff, or student.
Disclaimer: Microsoft is the primary university-wide platform for collaboration and productivity tools. OIT strongly recommends reducing your use of Google services. OIT reserves the right to restrict access to Google apps, especially non-core apps, as needed by the University. OIT offers minimal support for Google core and non-core apps. We will provide guidance by directing you to relevant tutorials and documentation, as well as assisting with web searches to ensure you find the appropriate resources.
Google divides its apps into two groups:
- Core apps are included with your account and managed by OIT.
- Non-core apps are available at Google's and OIT's discretion. Non-core apps are not managed by the university.
