Remote Connection from Mac to Mac

On the Mac you want to remote into

  1. Open System Preferences from the Apple Menu & select "Sharing."
  2. If you have a "Locked Padlock" icon in the lower-left corner, click it to unlock the settings (Computer Login Credentials).

  3. Click the checkbox for "Screen Sharing". Note the IP name of the computer to the right starting with "vnc", you will need this on the other computer.

On the Mac you want to remote from:

  1. Open Finder and select the "Go" menu then "Connect to Server."

  2. In the dialog type the IP name you made note of in step 3 above. (vnc://IPName.example.utk.edu).
     Connect to Server dialog with IP name from Step 3 typed within it.
  3. Add the connection to your favorites by clicking the "+" button on the lower left.
  4. Authenticate with the remote computer's login information.
