Zoom: Record a Meeting

Summary

How to record a Zoom meeting locally or to the Zoom Cloud.

Body

Overview

A meeting leader (host) may record the meeting and grant permission for meeting participants to record the meeting. Students can also use the recording feature to record presentations. Recordings can be saved locally or to the Zoom Cloud.

  • If you choose to record locally, the recording file will save to the device once the session has ended. Zoom will create a folder on the device with the date of the event and save recording files there.
  • If you choose to record to the Zoom Cloud, Zoom will email the instructor (host) once the recording is ready to share or view, and the email will include a shareable link. To learn more about Zoom Cloud Recordings, visit our Zoom Cloud Recording page.

The recording files (locally or in the cloud) may include a MP4 file, a MP3 audio file, and, a .txt file of the meeting chat. All active speaker content, share screen content, and audio content is included in a LiveOnline@UT (Zoom) recording.
