Instructions

To set up a chat, phone, or video meeting with one person in MS Teams, do the following:

  1. Log on to Office 365.
  2. Select the Teams icon.

Note: if you have not opened Teams before, you may need to go to All Apps to find the Teams icon.

  1. In Teams, select the Chat button on the left side of the page.

  1. Select the person you want to chat with.

Note: If the person you want to chat with is not showing in your recent chats or contacts, select the New chat button next to the Search or type a command field at the top of the page and type in the name of the person you want to communicate with.

  1. To chat with the person, type a new message in the field.
  2. To call or video chat with someone, select the phone or video buttons in the top right corner of the chat window. It's a good idea to chat with the person first before placing a call or video to make sure they can accept the call/video.

  1. Wait for the person to pick up the call.

Note: if there is more than one person in the chat you select, each person will be contacted to take part in the video conversation.
