Zoom: Schedule a Meeting

Overview

A LiveOnline@UT (Zoom) account is necessary in order to schedule a meeting in the desktop application and engage all the tools and features of our UT Zoom license. UT faculty have the option to schedule meetings via the Zoom desktop app, Canvas, and tennessee.zoom.us. UT staff and students have the option to schedule meetings via the Zoom desktop app and tennessee.zoom.us

Instructions

Schedule a Meeting via the Zoom Desktop Application

  1. Select the Zoom icon on the desktop, task bar, or in programs/applications list to open the application.
  2. Select Login in with SSO (or, Sign In with SSO).
  3. Enter the word tennessee (lower case) for the company domain and select Continue.  
  4. Log in with your NetID and password and the desktop application will open.
  5. To schedule a meeting for an upcoming date and time, choose the Schedule icon.
  6. Enter a topic for the meeting, select a date and time, and select meeting options. 
  7. Choose Save to save the meeting.

Once the meeting has been scheduled, it will appear on the Meetings list in the Zoom desktop application. To view upcoming meetings, select the Meetings icon on the Zoom desktop application window.

Schedule a Meeting via Canvas

  1. Go to the Canvas course and select it.
  2. Review the course menu on the left. If a Zoom menu item appears, please go to step five.
  3. If a Zoom menu item does not appear in the course menu already, choose Settings and then Navigation.
  4. Locate the Zoom item in the list and drag and drop it to the top section. Be sure to save the change.
  5. Return to the course menu and select Zoom
  6. Choose Schedule a New Meeting
    NOTE: By default, the Canvas/Zoom integration will only display the online classrooms scheduled within the course. To view the full list of all online classrooms and meetings for your account, go to tennessee.zoom.us and click Create or Edit Account to sign in with your NetID and password. 

Schedule Meetings via tennessee.zoom.us

  1. Go to tennessee.zoom.us and select Create or Edit Account to sign in with your NetID and password. 
  2. Choose Meetings on the left, and then +Schedule a Meeting in the upper-right corner of your screen. 
  3. Enter a topic for the meeting, select a date and time, and select meeting options. 
  4. Select Save
